Blog Task 4: Designing a Magazine
For this task, we were asked to design our own magazine as if we were a magazine publishing company. Here are the ideas that we have come up as a group if we were to publish a magazine.
The Urbansheet specialises in food, travel and entertainment. We offer insights on the best spot to go vacationing and the best place to have your meal with your loved ones. We also provide a section for some enlightenment of the latest movie to watchWe target group of people within the age of young adults to as old as they can get! There is no age limit for our magazine, it’s suitable for all especially to those that are always eager to leave the nest.
Our primary target would be those that are solely passionate about travelling as it guides them to their never-knew-wanted destination, giving informative understanding of the place and its attractions.
The method of selling this magazine would be by paid circulation. Why choose this method is because by paid circulation, the magazines would be distributed out to readers who would guarantee read cover to cover as they have paid the monthly or annual subscription fees. It is a better method as compared to distributing the magazines out for free only to land into customers hands that would not even flip to the first page of the magazine which would lead to wastage of printing.
The subscription fees paid by readers could be used to upgrade the magazine in different and various ways to improve it, making it more interesting. How this is done is by attaching a survey form to the magazine or maybe by leaving an email address of the company for readers or subscribers to comment on what or how they feel about the contents of the magazine and what should be done or changed in order to make the magazine more interesting and enjoyable to be read.
The way to promote it is by distributing an edition out in public places like hospitals, universities or even school libraries to let people get a glimpse of what and how the magazine is like.
Collaborating with well-known brands that is related to the theme of the magazine would also be a way to promote the magazine.
Along with the magazine would also come with coupons of favourite restaurants or fast food outlets, which would definitely put a smile on readers faces. I mean who would not be happy getting discount prices on food?

The Urbansheet would be our company name and magazine title. We came up with it originally as it gave an idea that our magazine would focus on anything related to the city or a town for travellers and .....

Our secondary target would be those hungry readers who can't keep their hands off of food. We showcase some recipes and also restaurants to visit while travelling to a certain destination.
WHERE DO WE SELL OUR MAGAZINES?
How are we going to sell our magazine is we are going to publish our magazines at a famous bookstore like MPH, POPULAR and etc. Then, we are going to sell it at universities because our magazine is most suitable for university students, at their age now, they are the one that have more interest into foods and travelling. Furthermore, we will put our magazines at travel agencies because tourists that travels to our country can know where they can go to get delicious foods and how to travel light and easy.WAYS TO ATTRACT OUR CUSTOMERS
We will attract our customers by giving something away. Although when we give something, our prize will be larger, but no doubt because we will get more new client, it’s a win-win situation. Next, we will hold a contest in social media. The contest is those who have the voucher that is in the magazine, will get their prizes. Furthermore, we will make our cover more cheerful so that the reader will feel joy just by having the magazine on her/his hand. Moreover, we should put our article with more pictures not just words because, people these days love to see pictures compared to reading. Lastly, the price of magazine we will make it affordable so that all type of people can afford to buy our magazine.

THE CONTENT OF OUR MAGAZINE
We aim to provide articles about less known travel destinations and alternate food recipes that are affordable to the average person. We would like to promote the idea that travel and good food is not just for the rich and affluent hence the name “Urbansheet”. We are also very committed to help young adults and teenagers make better decisions about the food they eat by informing them about cheap but healthy alternatives to junk food.
As for the travel section of our magazine, we plan to do features on cheap holiday packages and help in planning alternate travel options such as road trips and backpacking. Another idea that we have for our travel articles are interviews with real life budget travellers such as Ben from the travel series Kombi Life so that people will be inspired to travel.
